Service Line Warranty Program

Mailers arriving March 11

Starting March 11, some Avondale residents may receive a mailer about an optional Service Line Warranty Program.

This program offers optional warranty coverage for certain water and sewer service lines that are often the homeowner’s responsibility.

This is optional. You do not need to enroll to keep City utility service.

What is a service line?

A service line is a pipe that connects a home to the public water or sewer system. Some parts of a water or sewer system are maintained by the City, and some parts are the homeowner’s responsibility.

Homeowners are often responsible for repairing or replacing the portion of the line that serves their property. Repairs can be expensive.

Is the mailer legitimate?

Yes. The City of Avondale has an agreement that allows Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) to use the City logo on program mailers. The logo is used to show there is a formal relationship and that the mailing is not a scam.

Important: SLWA is a separate company. The program is not a City of Avondale service, and participation is voluntary.

What is the City’s role?

The City’s role is to help residents understand:

  • the mailing is legitimate, and
  • service line repairs may be a homeowner responsibility, and
  • residents can choose whether optional coverage is right for them.

SLWA manages enrollment, coverage details, customer service, and claims.

Should I enroll?

Only you can decide. Some residents prefer a monthly plan to help manage the risk of unexpected repair costs. Others choose to set aside savings for repairs.

Before enrolling, consider:

  • the age and condition of your home’s service lines (if known)
  • whether you could pay for a repair without financial strain
  • what the plan covers and what it does not cover
  • the monthly cost and any limits or exclusions

For plan details, contact SLWA using the information below.
