Honoring 2020 Graduates

Van Buren Multi-Use Path

Beginning June 8, the Van Buren Multi-use path project will start construction in Avondale. This project is part of a long term project for the regional Maricopa County Multimodal Trail System and is managed by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

The Multi-use path will be around 1.5 miles in length between 113th Avenue & 127th Avenue on the North side of Van Buren Street. Within the Van Buren Multi-use path, there will be sidewalks and sidewalk ramps, pedestrian lighting, landscaping, signage and more. Be on the look out for the the new path, scheduled to be completed in December 2020.


New Care1st Avondale Resource Center

The New Care1st Avondale Resource center is beginning to take shape after the groundbreaking in December 2019. The new facility, scheduled to be completed in January 2021, will boast over 25,000 square feet and house the Care1st Avondale Resource Center, currently located at 328 W. Western Ave., the Avondale Senior Center and the Avondale Neighborhood & Family Services Department which is currently located at 1007 S. 3rd. Street. 

The updated center will include meeting rooms, senior dining facilities, offices and space for providers of various programs that support residents of the community. There will be landscaped grounds and plenty of parking for patrons.  

In 2019, Avondale City Council voted to name the complex after former Mayor, Marie Lopez Rogers who dedicated her life to social work before running for Avondale City Council. Her tenure included two terms as mayor until her retirement in 2014.

Be sure to drive by and see the continued progress on the Marie Lopez Rodgers Complex located at 995 E. Riley Drive.



Virtual Ribbon-Cutting - My Place Hotel

 The Avondale Edge Team will be hosting a virtual Ribbon-Cutting for My Place Hotel. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 27 at 12:00pm.
