Councilmember Shari Weise was elected to the Avondale City Council in 2024. Her four-year term began in January 2025.

For nearly 30 years, Councilmember Weise has called Avondale home, witnessing its transformation from a quiet farming community to an economic powerhouse of the West Valley. Before joining the City Council, Councilmember Weise was involved in the community, volunteering her time and talents. She served as a Committee Member on Avondale’s Neighborhood and Family Services Board and as a Board Member on the Friends of the Southwest Family Advocacy Board. In preparation for City Council, she attended Avondale’s Citizen Leadership Academy, Citizen’s Water Academy, and Citizen’s Police Academy. She is attending Avondale’s Citizen’s Fire Academy in 2026.

Councilmember Weise brings over 40 years of healthcare experience to the City Council. She is a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Banner Estrella Medical Center and holds a master’s degree in nursing education from Grand Canyon University. She believes that health and safety are fundamental to a thriving community and is committed to ensuring that Avondale remains a safe and healthy place for all its residents.

She and her husband, Kenn, have two daughters, Lauren and Delaney. They are also the parents of two rescue puppies, Belle and Gracie. Councilmember Weise will continue to advocate for Public Safety, Water Security, and expansion and updates to our Parks, Recreation Centers/Activities, and Libraries. With such a vibrant and active community, she will also advocate for continued investment in ADA-compliant playground equipment to ensure all residents, regardless of their physical abilities, are able to participate.
