Council Member Lorenzo Sierra
Lorenzo Sierra was elected in 2014 to serve on the Avondale City Council in the capacity of Council Member. His 4-year term began in January of 2015.
Council Member Sierra has a long history of local and statewide community service and advocacy. Currently, he serves as an advisory board member for Chicanos Por La Causa - Health and Human Services; Xico, an arts organization; the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where he is Vice-Chair; and a board member of Hispanic Leadership Forum del Oeste. In addition, he is on the executive committee of the Phoenix Business and Workforce Development Commission; and secretary of Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone's Hispanic Advisory Committee. Lorenzo represents Avondale on the Maricopa Association of Governments Economic Development Committee and is also a member of the WestMarc Board of Directors. He also serves on the Avondale Council Subcommittee for the Contributions Assistance Program. He is a member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO).
Lorenzo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Arizona State University and is a consultant at Segal Consulting, a Human Resources and employee benefits consulting firm. He is also a proud graduate of the Avondale Citizens Leadership Academy Class V; Valle del Sol's Hispanic Leadership Institute Class XX; Hispanic Leadership West Class X; the Center for Progressive Leadership Class V; and Leadership West Class 23. He is an accredited Business Communicator through the International Association of Business Communicators.
Council Member Sierra is a proud Arizona native and an Avondale resident since 2010. He lives with his wife and youngest son Roman. His older children, Megan and Adam live out of state.
