Councilmember Garcia was appointed to the City Council in October 2024. Jeannette Garcia has been a dedicated resident of Avondale since 2001. A proud graduate of Agua Fria High School and prior student of Estrella Mountain Community College, she brings a wealth of experience to her role as a City Council Member. As an Army Combat Veteran and former Military Police Officer, Jeannette demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment during her service, including her critical role on a female engagement team in Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012.
With a strong background in law enforcement as a prior Federal Police Officer, Jeannette is deeply committed to community safety and support. She is also a passionate advocate for domestic violence and sexual assault awareness, recognized with the Rising Star Award for her outstanding contributions in this field. As a certified PTSD coach and author of "Surviving After Trauma," she empowers others to overcome their challenges and fosters healing within the community.
In addition to her advocacy work, Jeannette is an active member of the Arizona Republican Party, serving as a precinct committee and state delegate. Her dedication was acknowledged with the Precinct Committeeman of the Year award for Legislative District 22.
A single mother to her son and a loving aunt, Jeannette balances her personal and professional life with grace. Her love for dogs and strong ties to her community reflect her unwavering commitment to making Avondale a safer and more vibrant place for all residents.
