Councilmember Gloria Solorio was appointed to the City Council in January 2022.
Councilmember Solorio has been actively involved in the city and has served on several boards and commissions: Planning and Zoning, Neighborhood and Family Services, Volunteer Firefighter Pension Board, and the Board of Adjustment. She has been a participant in the Avondale Citizens Police Academy, Citizens Leadership Academy, and is a local graduate of the Hispanic Leadership Institute (HLI) West. Councilmember Solorio is a member of the Council Subcommittee for Boards and Commissions and is a member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials.
In 2025, Councilmember Solorio was elected to serve a two-year term on the National League of Cities (NLC) Board of Directors by NLC's membership and was appointed to the subcommittee for Membership and Retention. She was also appointed to serve on the NLC Military Communities Council, as well as a board member of the NLC Women in Municipal Government (WIMG) caucus and a member of the NLC Hispanic Elected Local Officials (HELO) caucus.
Gloria is a hotel industry professional and manager for a local Hilton. She has been a long-time philanthropic steward for Hilton, involving her employer's teams in philanthropic efforts with the city by actively volunteering with the Tres Rios Clean Up initiatives, the local senior center, and planting gardens in schools.
Councilmember Solorio holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and an MBA in Business and Marketing from the University of Phoenix. She has been a resident of Avondale since 2005.
