The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) supervises investigations and clean-up at two sites within one designated Superfund site in the City of Goodyear. Both are associated with past operations near the Phoenix Goodyear Airport so they are called Phoenix-Goodyear Airport North (PGA-North) and Phoenix Goodyear Airport South (PGA-South).   The  Public Works Department coordinates with EPA and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), neighboring water providers and municipalities to assure that underground water supplies near the site are monitored and protected and that the site is cleaned up.

The State of Arizona monitors and provides protection for water supplies within the Western Avenue Plume using the Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF). ADEQ administers this program.   The City of Avondale works with ADEQ,  to assure that water supplies near the site are monitored and protected and that the site is cleaned up.
