STORM SAFETY
Designated Public Works crews will be on call 24 hours a day during the monsoon and after any major storm events to check for and remove downed trees and debris, clear clogged storm drains, and assist residents in flooded areas. To report damage, please call (623) 333-4400. For Emergencies dial 9-1-1.
During heavy rains, the safest strategy is to stay in place.
Remain in your home or place of business. Don’t travel unless absolutely necessary.
If You Are Driving
- Obey all traffic, detour, and road closure signs and avoid low-lying areas!
- Do not attempt to cross flooded roadways! Even shallow running water exerts intense pressure and can sweep your car off the road or stall your engine.
- Slow down! The first rain of summer brings unusually slick conditions.
- If you can't see due to heavy rain or blowing dust, pull off the road. Move off the road to the right side as far as possible. Turn off your engine and lights. Take your foot off the brake pedal. Stay inside your vehicle.
- Approach any non-working traffic signal as you would a stop sign. Traffic signal outage can be reported to the Police non-emergency line at (623) 333-7001

NOTE: Tree pruning classes are available through the City, which helps maintain and keep your trees "monsoon ready". We suggest trimming trees away from windows and roofs, and thinning tree canopies to help prevent limb breakage and uprooting during storms. Sign up for a FREE Landscape class to learn more about pruning and desert plant care.
Lightning
- Lightning is dangerous no matter where you are!

- Stay away from open fields, high land, trees, poles, and standing bodies of water.

If The Power Goes Out
