Cadet Program Overview:

Police Cadets are teens with a career interest in law enforcement. The program provides an in-depth experience into the career of policing, while instilling the Values and Mission of the Avondale Police Department. As a Cadet, you will attend weekly trainings, compete, volunteer, and have lots of fun. This program is for teens entering their Freshmen through Senior year of High School.

Applications are not being accepted at the moment. Check back July 2025 for the upcoming academic season.

Selection Requirements:

  • An Avondale teen entering their Freshmen-Senior year of High School
  • Completed last academic year with a grade of C average or better
  • Be free of felony arrests, current drug or alcohol use, and criminal activity
  • Attend weekly Tuesday night meetings at Avondale Police station
  • Submit completed application

 

DISQUALIFICATION FACTORS:

  • Any arrest in the past 36 months will be evaluated case by case
  • Driving record and license suspensions will be evaluated
  • Breach of integrity, employee thefts or being dishonest in your job performance
  • Any hard drug use 
  • Any marijuana use within the last 1 year
  • Any outstanding criminal charges
  • Any undetected criminal acts will be evaluated case by case
  • Listed as a suspect and/or investigative lead on a police report will be evaluated case by case
