Host a Special Event in Avondale
Whether you're planning a charity fundraiser, concert, or private gathering with amplified music or food trucks - you may need a Special Event Permit.
To help streamline your planning, we’ve updated our Special Event Permit process. Please review the information below to determine the type of permit you need and ensure timely submission of your application.
Do You Need a Special Event Permit?
You will need a Special Event Permit if your gathering includes any of the following:
- 250+ attendees
- Closure or restriction of public streets, sidewalks, or rights-of-way
- Use of large tents, stages, or temporary structures
- Sale or service of alcohol
- Fireworks, bonfires, or pyrotechnics
- Mechanical amusement rides or non-domesticated animals
- Activities that deviate from legal land use

The Special Event Permit Process
A comprehensive special event process is in place to ensure every event is both successful and safe. By reviewing permits carefully, the City can make sure the right resources are available, residents and businesses are supported, and event hosts have clear guidance to create positive experiences for everyone who attends and for the community they are hosted in.

*If your event is planned on short notice due to unexpected circumstances, you may still apply by submitting a written explanation.
**First Amendment Events do not require any permit fees, but cost recovery for city services may apply.

Important Rules & Reminders
- All permits are non-transferable.
- Events may be revoked at any time for non-compliance.
- Organizers must immediately stop an event if the permit is revoked and remove all property/trash.
- The use of the “City of Avondale” name or logo requires written permission.
- City staff (police, fire, inspectors, etc.) have the right to access events at any time to ensure compliance.
