The City of Avondale Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer residents 10 parks throughout the City with diverse amenities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy! Please see our park listing below to determine which park is next on your list to visit.
Avondale plaza, pocket, and neighborhood parks are open from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Alamar Park - 4155 S. El Mirage Road
Alamar Park is a 40-acre community park located in the Alamar development in Avondale.

Dennis DeConcini Park - 351 E. Western Avenue

- Shaded Playground - Lighted Basketball Court - Volleyball Court Dennis DeConcini is an American lawyer, philanthropist, politician, and former Democratic U.S. Senator. The City Council recognized long-term United States Senator Dennis DeConcini for his many years of service and support to the City of Avondale by re-naming the park in his honor. |

Las Ligas Park - 12421 W. Lower Buckeye Road

- Softball Field - Volleyball Court - Basketball Court - Shaded Playground - Multi-Use Field When developing this park, the city worked with the area residents to develop a park master plan and included their suggestions of having the name reflect the neighborhood. Residents chose the name "Ligas" because farm laborers would use rubber bands to harvest crops from nearby fields. |
Fred Campbell Park - 101 E. Lawrence Boulevard

This park was developed as a dual-function park and a stormwater retention basin. Fred Campbell was a long-time member of the City Council and served as Vice-Mayor and Mayor of Avondale.
Mountain View Park - 201 E. Mountain View Drive

This is the City of Avondale’s first park! In 1970 the city purchased 4 ½ acres from Clarence Young and Mattie Young for $1500 an acre. The park was named after its views of the Estrella Mountain Range.
Civic Center Park - 11350 W. Civic Center Drive

- Shaded Playground - Picnic Ramada - Lighted Walking-Loop Civic Center Park is part of the vibrant Civic Center Campus. With an open turf space, a fenced playground and lighted walking path, it is the perfect space for residents to gather, relax and play. |
Park Avenue Plaza - 755 N. 114th Avenue
Park Avenue Plaza includes a lake with a fountain, koi pond, two pedestrian bridges, and a splash pad |
Dessie Lorenz Plaza - 202 E. Main Street
Dessie Lorenz Plaza provides serene walking paths and shaded benches along Avondale's Main Street.
The property was originally a rest area for the former highway U.S. 80 which ran through Avondale. In 1975, then Mayor Dessie Lorenz, persuaded the State of Arizona to enter into the lease agreement with the City of Avondale and designate this property as a city park. The City Council recognized Mayor Lorenz’s efforts by naming the park in her name.
Doc Rhodes Plaza - 10 W. Western Avenue
Doc Rhodes Plaza features a beautiful gazebo along Western Avenue.
The property was originally a gas station. Members of the United Methodist Church wanted to improve the area around the church and also recognize a member of their congregation. With funding from the Rhodes Family the parcel was bought and the Park was named after T.C. Doc Rhodes.
A.B. Sernas Plaza - 521 E. Western Avenue
Sernas Plaza offers a shaded seating area with public art located next to the Sam Garcia Library on Western Avenue.
This Plaza has been named in recognition of former City Council member A.B. Sernas and his wife, Francisca. They both worked for the Goodyear Farms Cotton Company as field laborers in the historic Camp 50 and Camp 52.
The Splash Pad features are located at four different locations

Hours of Splash Pad Operations:
Spring | April 1-Memorial Day: Weekends ONLY from 10AM-6PM
Summer | Memorial Day – Labor Day: Daily from 8AM - 8PM
Fall | Labor Day – Halloween: Weekends ONLY 10 AM - 6PM
The parks in Avondale are a special place for many of the residents and visitors of our community and often become an important place in their lives. From time to time, a visitor wishes to have a dedication bench placed in our parks.
To help make this dream a reality, the Avondale Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department offers the Dedication Bench Program.
PARK RULES
Violation of the rules will be grounds for immediate removal from the park. Permanent suspension of the use of the park may result. The amenities in the park may be closed at any time due to weather, maintenance of equipment or other operational concerns. Please report any maintenance issues to the Parks and Recreation office at 623-333-2400.

- Please help keep your parks clean. Dispose of litter and trash in receptacles.
- Use parks and park equipment at your own risk. The city is not responsible for personal injury or damages caused by users.
- The park rental times end at 10 p.m.
- Be courteous of other scheduled rentals. Rental times will be enforced and guests in violation will be removed.
- Alcohol is prohibited unless prior approval is obtained from the City of Avondale.
- Dogs must always remain leashed unless in designated dog park locations.
- Glass containers are prohibited.
- Portable grills or any other personal cooking device that creates an open flame are prohibited.
- Amplified sound is prohibited unless prior approval is obtained from the City of Avondale.
- Swimming, boating or operating toys in the ponds are prohibited. Do not feed or disturb the birds.
- An urban fishing license is required to fish.
- Bounce houses require a ramada rental, field rental, and permit.
- Tournaments, organized games, and/or scrimmage games must have prior approval from the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Golfing, drones, and non-tethered model airplanes are prohibited.
- Fireworks are prohibited.
- The city is not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles or contents. Park in designated areas only.
- Petting zoos, pony rides, and other animal attractions are prohibited in city parks.
- Only use park equipment and amenities for their intended use.
- Park in designated areas only.
- All vendors must have a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department.

Friendship Park, Festival Fields Park, Alamar Park, and Park Avenue Plaza
Hours:
Spring: April 1st - Memorial Day: Weekends ONLY 10a.m.- 6p.m.
Summer: Memorial Day - Labor Day: Daily from 8a.m. - 8p.m.
Fall: Labor Day - Halloween: Weekends ONLY from 10a.m. - 6p.m.
- All persons using the splash pad do so at their own risk.
- Children must be under adult supervision.
- NO GLASS CONTAINERS
- Running, horseplay, and climbing on equipment is prohibited.
- Infants must wear swim diapers.
- Street shoes, cleats, skateboards, bikes, and scooters are prohibited.
- No animals, except for service animals.
- Radios, audio speakers, or other acoustical devices are prohibited.
- Pool toys, water balloons, and floats are prohibited.
- No tobacco, candy, popcorn, gum, alcohol, drugs, or food of any kind in splash pad area.
- Profane language will not be tolerated.
- Please play by the rules, have respect for all and enjoy the splash pad.
Skate Park and Pump Track
Rules and Regulations
Hours: 6a.m.- 10p.m.
Avondale City Code 17-5
- Skate, bike, and ride at your own risk.
- Use protective equipment (helmet, pads and wrist guards) at all times.
- Inspect the skating and riding surface. Remove any trash and debris.
- Skateboards less than 34” long permitted.
- Motorized equipment is prohibited.
- Do not use facility in inclement weather as it may create unsafe surfaces.
- Abusive, profane or foul language is prohibited.
- Adding additional jumps, ramps or other obstacles are prohibited.
- Aggressive behavior is prohibited.
- No food or beverages on the skate park and pump track.
- No pets allowed in the skate park and pump track.
- Permit required for any event in the skate park.
- Smoking, vaping, drugs and alcohol prohibited.
- Know your own ability and skate/ bike ride accordingly.
- Use parks and park equipment at your own risk. The city is not responsible for personal injury or damages caused by users.
- Park in designated areas only. The city is not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles or contents.
- All vendors must have a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department.

Pond Rules and Regulations

- Please help keep your parks clean and safe! Fishing line, hooks and litter must be placed in trash receptacles.
- Use parks and park equipment at your own risk. The city is not responsible for personal injury or damages
caused by users.
- Keep dogs on a leash at all times, except for in designated dog park locations.
- Glass containers are prohibited.
- Amplified sound is prohibited unless prior approval is obtained from the City of Avondale.
- Activities occurring in the lake must have a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department.
- An Arizona State fishing license is required to fish. To purchase a fishing license, please visit www.azgfd.com/fishing.
- State Fishing Laws will be enforced.
- Barbless hooks only.
- Do not clean fish on park property.
- Swimming, boating, or operating toys in the lake is prohibited.
- Do not feed or disturb the birds.
- Park in designated areas only. The city is not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles or contents.
- All vendors must have a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department.
Goodyear Farms Cemetery
Rules and Regulations
Avondale City Code 17-5
Hours: 6a.m. - 7p.m.
- The City reserves the right to compel all persons coming in to the Cemetery to obey all rules and regulations established herein under the Avondale City Code.
- No person will be permitted to use profane or boisterous language or in any way disturb the quiet and good order of the Cemetery.
- The city reserves the right, in it's sole discretion, to remove any decorations from the Cemetery when deemed unsightly, weathered, or otherwise dangerous, or when necessary for proper maintenance of the Cemetery.
- The city is not responsible for the loss or damage to anything placed on graves or lots.
- No person may break or damage any tree or shrub; or any landmark, marker or memorial; or in any way deface the grounds of the Cemetery.
- No vegetation of any kind shall be planted on graves or any part of the Cemetery unless by consent of the Parks and Recreation Director or designee.
- No person, unless authorized by the Director or designee, shall remove from any part of the Cemetery, plant or flower, either wild or cultivated, or otherwise disturb any landscaping within the Cemetery.
Need a Reservation? No Problem!
The City of Avondale accepts reservations for picnic ramadas and fields. Whether you're planning a birthday party or an overnight tournament, we're here to help. Click below for information on how to reserve the right amenity for you.
Ramada reservations can be done online or in person at Avondale City Hall up to 120 days in advance of the reservation date. Reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance. Cancellation of reservations must be made 72 hours in advance to be considered for a refund.

Alcohol Permit
Alcohol permits are available to those renting a ramada. You must be at least 21 years of age to acquire an alcohol permit. CLICK HERE to download and print the application. Alcohol permits must be processed in person at Avondale City Hall or email ActiveAvondale@Avondaleaz.gov prior to the date of your reservation.
