Frequently Asked Questions
The City of Avondale strives to provide our residents with ample information regarding our programs and services. The answers to most questions can be found in The RAVE or listed under specific programs on our registration site. However, we compiled our most frequently asked questions here for your convenience.

- Can you reserve a ramada?
- Yes, ramadas can be reserved in person at Avondale City Hall or online at www.avondaleaz.gov/rec if being booked more than three (3) days in advance.
- How much does it cost to rent a ramada?
- Prices vary based on the amenities of the park, size of the ramada, and residency. Specific information for each ramada can be found by visiting the Facilities page at the link above.
- Can I have a bounce house at a park?
- Yes, but additional requirements apply. See "Bounce Houses" FAQ's.
- Can I have alcohol during my ramada rental?
- Yes, but additional requirements apply.
- An Alcohol Permit must be obtained, which will allow beer and wine only during ramada rentals. This can be completed at the Parks and Recreation Department at Avondale City Hall. There are additional requirements for approval. Interested parties should contact the Parks and Recreation Office at (623)333-2400 for additional information.

- What qualifies as proof of residency?
- A valid picture ID with a piece of mail that matches the name and address on the ID is required. If there are any questions or concerns, residency will ultimately be determined based on City taxes- if you pay to Avondale you are a resident.
- What is the cancellation policy for ramada rentals?
- To receive a refund, renters must contact the office regarding cancellations at least 72 hours in advance.
- Is the splash pad included with a ramada rental at Festival Fields, Friendship Park, or Alamar Park?
- The splash pad is not included for private use with ramada rentals. The city reserves the right to close the Splash Pad at any time for maintenance, cleaning, etc. as necessary. Splash Pad accessibility will have no effect on ramada rentals or fees.
- Is there electricity at the ramadas?
- Most ramadas do have electrical outlets, however, electricity is not guaranteed. Due to maintenance, theft, and other instances outside of City control, electric outlets may not be in working condition. Electrical access will have no effect on ramada rentals or fees.
- Do any Avondale parks have splash pads?
- Yes! Friendship Park has a splash pad on the East side of the park near the red building, ramadas, and play ground. Festival Fields has a splash pad near the lake at the center of the park. Alamar Park has a splash pad near the North side of the lake.
- What are the splash pad hours?

- Is the splash pad included with a ramada rental at Festival Fields Park, Friendship Park, or Alamar Park?

- Is there a fee to use the splash pad?
- No, the splash pad is open to the public free of charge during operation hours unless being used for an exclusive City event. The City reserves the right to close the Splash Pad at any time for maintenance, cleaning, etc. as necessary.
- Does the Parks and Recreation Department offer special interest classes or sports programs?
- Yes, a variety of classes and youth/adult sports programs are offered seasonally and can be found in the RAVE, on the city website, or on Civic Rec(City registration system).
- Where can I register for programs, classes, and leagues?
- Registration is taken in person at Avondale City Hall Parks and Recreation Department office or online at: www.avondaleAZ.gov/rec.
- What payment methods are accepted?
- In person we accept cash, check, and debit/credit card payments.
- Online is debit/credit card payment only.
- How do I become an instructor for the City of Avondale?
- All interested parties must complete/submit the Prospective Instructor Packet to the Parks and Recreation Department at Avondale City Hall. There are additional requirements for approval. Interested parties should fill out the instructor packet and send it over to ActiveAvondale@Avondaleaz.gov.

- Can I fish in the lake at Festival Fields, Friendship Park, and/or Alamar Park?
- Yes, however all fishing in City of Avondale lakes is regulated by Arizona Game and Fish Department, through the Community Fishing Program, which requires a valid fishing license.
- Who needs a fishing license and where can I obtain one?
- Per AZ Game and Fish, all parties fishing in public waters 10 years and older (aside from blind residents) need a license.
- Licenses can be purchased online (costs vary based on age, license type, and residency) at https://www.azgfd.com/license/.
- How often is the pond stocked? What kind of fish?
- Generally, the pond is stocked monthly. However, due to extreme heat conditions, Community Fishing Program waters are not stocked between June 25 and September 15.
- The pond is stocked with a mix of Catfish, Sunfish, Bass, and/or Trout, depending on the season. Information is available on the AZ Game and Fish Community Fishing Program Stocking Schedule.
- Can Avondale athletic fields be secured for private use?
- Yes, athletic fields can be secured online or in person by the public and organizations. Online field rentals can be reserved 3 days in advance at www.avondaleaz.gov/rec. Within 3 days, reservations must be completed in person with the Parks and Recreation Department at Avondale City Hall.

- Can Avondale athletic fields be secured for continuous/reoccurring use?
- Yes, continuous use of facilities (Allocation) requires the submission of an Athletic Fields Allocation application to the Parks and Recreation Department at Avondale City Hall. There are additional requirements for approval. Click here for more information.
- Can Avondale athletic fields be secured for tournament use?
- Yes, athletic fields at Friendship Park, Festival Fields Park, and Alamar Park can be rented for tournaments. We offer baseball/softball fields and soccer/flag football fields. Use requires the submission of a Tournament Request application to the Parks and Recreation Department at Avondale City Hall. There are additional requirements for approval. - Can I have alcohol during my field use?
- Yes, for tournaments ONLY, and additional requirements apply.
- An Alcohol Permit must be obtained, which will allow beer and wine only during tournament rentals. This can be completed at the Parks and Recreation Department at Avondale City Hall. There are additional requirements for approval. Click here for more information.
- The weather does not look good for today, where do I go to find out if the fields are still open?
- Avondale's first form of communication about field closures is to update our inclement weather voicemail at 623-333-2409. Field closure decisions are made at 2pm each day and the voicemail will have the most recent updates. Please call this number for field closures statuses of all Avondale parks.
- What are the requirements for a bounce house at a City of Avondale park?
- All reservations requesting a bounce house permit are required to reserve a field along with a ramada to accommodate the set up.
- A bounce house request form is required at the time of booking and must be approved by Parks and Recreation staff.
- Field reservations to accommodate a bounce house must be done by contacting Parks and Recreation at (623)333-2400 during regular business hours (Mon-Thurs 7am-6pm).
- Only assigned field may be used for bounce house set up.
- only bounce house vendors approved by the City of Avondale can be contracted to provide their services.
- Are there restrictions for bounce house set ups?
- Bounce house set ups are not permitted between May and September due to the high temperatures that could reach above 100 degrees.
- Will a refund be issued for the field and/or ramada reservation if I cancel?
- To receive a full refund for a field and/or ramada reservation, the cancellation request must be submitted 72 hours in advance.
- Are inflatable water slides allowed?
- No. Inflatable water slides are not permitted.
- Can I use any bounce house vendor to supply the bounce house?
- Only city approved bounce house vendors may be contracted to provide their services.
- Where can I find an approved bounce house vendor to supply a bounce house?
- We provide a list of city approved bounce house vendors that may be contracted by patrons looking to rent a bounce house. See below:

- How do I become a City of Avondale approved bounce house vendor?
- Bounce house vendors looking to be approved to provide their services to our park patrons may submit a Bounce House Vendor application and Certificate of Insurance to the Parks and Recreation Department in person or online.

- How do I become a food vendor in the parks?
- All interested parties must complete and submit the Park Vendor Permit application to the Parks and Recreation Department at Avondale City Hall. There are additional requirements for approval. Interested parties should contact the Parks and Recreation Office at ActiveAvondale@avondaleaz.gov
