Avondale Youth Advisory Commission event

The Avondale Youth Advisory Commission was established in 2002 by the Mayor and Council to represent the youth in the community, provide youth with leadership and community service opportunities, and understand and explore effective ways to engage the community in a meaningful way.

Meetings take place the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 6:00 PM at Avondale Civic Center, located at 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, in the Sonoran conference room.  To be eligible, members must be an Avondale resident and be between the ages of 13 to 20.

Ages 16-24  (Teen Employment Mentorship Program)AviTemp Work Experience

Avondale’s summer teen employment program has a new name and look.  Formally known as “Next STEP,” the program is now called “Avi TEMP,” which stands for Teen Employment Mentorship Program.  

Currently, this program is scheduled to begin June 8 and end July 23, 2020. **It is our hope to continue with this program as planned, however we are continuing to monitor CDC guidelines and directives based on the COVID-19 response. In order to minimize the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, this program may be postponed or modified accordingly. ** Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the intake process has been modified. Applications for this program will open via telephone on Monday, April 13 at 8:00 a.m.; and close on Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 p.m. or until all placements are filled. Only telephone application will be accepted for this program . To apply, you will need to call (623) 333-2790, and leave your first and last names, telephone phone number,  home address and email address.

 Note: This program is filled on a first-come, first-served basis; and will close once it is fills to capacity. Applicants will be contacted and screened for eligibility through an intake appointment. For any questions, please call Donna Gardner @ (623) 333-2723.


Global Youth Service Day is the largest youth service and civic action event in the world and the only one that celebrates, expands, and sustains the capacity of all youth ages 12-18 and their communities to thrive by working together for the common good.
