The Housing and Community Development (HCD) Division of the Neighborhood and Family Services Department promotes and preserves the integrity, sustainability and livability of Avondale’s neighborhoods while improving the quality of life of low-income residents. The HCD Division develops successful programs that address the needs of Avondale residents while strengthening the very fabric of the City's neighborhoods through comprehensive neighborhood preservation and revitalization strategies.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides the majority of the Division's funding along with Maricopa County Department of Housing & Community Development. The City of Avondale targets these funds towards lower income neighborhoods and residents. The City undergoes an extensive planning process every year for HUD funds to ensure that the priority needs of the community are being addressed. This process is open to the public and your participation is encouraged. Current Housing and Community Development Programs and activities include:
-
Home Repair Programs
-
First Time Homebuyer Program
-
Move-In Security Deposit Program
-
Infrastructure Improvements
-
Lead-Based Paint Hazard Removal
-
Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing
