Civic Center Dr. to consider a request to raise its primary property taxes, consider a resolution adopting the city’s budget, and consider a request to approve the 2019-2020 fee schedule. The mission of the Family Services division is 'to provide a variety of human services that educate, support and strengthen our community. Our programs are in place to meet the needs of our community in the West Valley, and promote independence and self-sufficiency to individuals and families in need'

Family Services' includes:

Care1st Avondale Resource and Housing Center
The Care1st Avondale Resource and Housing Center is the result of a partnership between the City of Avondale, Care1st Health Plan of Arizona, Inc., and First Things First.


We offer a variety of human services; from programs for parents with children 0-5, to assistance with applying for AHCCCS and WIC. The Care1st Avondale Resource and Housing Center is here to help families in the Southwest Valley and beyond.

Community Action Program
The goal of Community Action is to help individuals and families move toward financial independence by connecting individuals to a wide range of social services programs.

This program is funded in part by: City of Avondale, City of Goodyear, and Maricopa County Department of Human Services Department Service areas for rent and utility assistance include: Cities of Avondale, Goodyear, and Litchfield Park; and the unincorporated Maricopa County Islands within Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Laveen.

Senior Center & Active Adult Program
The City of Avondale Senior Center & Active Adult Program provides services to participants over the age of 60 or those with disabilities. Transportation is provided to participants to and from the center as well as on outings. At the center, participants are able to enjoy daily lunch, socialization, and participate in daily activities including health, wellness, and financial resources, exercise, craft activities, volunteering, and other support groups. Home delivered meals are provided to those that are home-bound, giving them daily contact and nutritious meals.
