Pre-incident planning is an integral part of our emergency response. By visiting occupancies prior to the emergency, we are able to identify important information that will guide emergency crews in saving lives, property, and making the problem go away. On-duty AFM Intervention Services crews and Community Risk Reduction personnel work together to compile as much up-to-date information on the various commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-resident occupancies within the city. Using portable technology, occupancy maps are created and important information such as fire suppression systems, access/egress, hydrant locations, hazardous materials, and building construction are entered into our Emergency Reporting database. This information is then shared with neighboring fire departments so any fire unit within the regional automatic aid system responding to an emergency in Avondale has the necessary information available to them to help with emergency mitigation.
