Through an agreement with the Arizona State Fire Marshal’s Office, Avondale Fire & Medical conducts fire code plan reviews and inspections for all school and government facilities in the City of Avondale. All fire sprinkler and fire alarm plans must be sealed by a professional registrant. Plans should be submitted to City Hall. School Plans will be processed by City Hall and forwarded to Avondale Fire & Medical for review.

Separate Avondale Fire & Medical submittals are required for the following operations at existing facilities:

• Flammable/Combustible Liquid Tanks/Dispensing
• Spraying or Dipping Operations
• Compressed Gases
• Consumer Fireworks Retail Sales (Year round)
• Hazardous Materials
• Outdoor Firework Displays

A fire department permit is required to operate a tent having an area in excess of 400 square feet, or a canopy in excess of 700 square feet. They shall not be erected, operated or maintained for any purpose without first obtaining a permit and approval from the Avondale Fire & Medical.

Fire Code permit fees are $200.00 for the first tent or canopy, and $100.00 for each additional tent or canopy on the same permit.

Tents and canopies that will be used for seasonal sales must obtain approval from the Development Services Department before a fire department permit can be issued. Separate fees may apply.

Arizona Revised Statutes section 36-1606, consumer fireworks are permissible for sales during the following dates: April 25 through May 6, May 20 through July 6 and Dec. 10 through Jan. 3 of each year and two days before the first day of Diwali through the third day of Diwali each year. The use of fireworks is permissible May 4 through May 6, June 24 through July 6 and Dec. 26 through Jan. 4 of each year and the second and third days of Diwali of each year.

A Retail Display and Sales of Consumer Fireworks in Temporary Facilities permit is required for the storage, handling, display or sale of consumer fireworks.

An Outdoor Fireworks Displays, Proximate Displays, and Pyrotechnical Special Effects Permit is required for storage, handling, or use of any quantity of fireworks or pyrotechnical special effects.
