- Step-by-step instructions.
- The city may impose a fine of up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for each month the owner or owner's designee operates a short-term rental while failing to possess a license (City Code 13-188.e).
Background & Information
- Effective February 1, 2024, Ordinance No. 2060-1023 provides regulations for short-term rentals (occupancy of less than 30 days).
- Owners must obtain a license, provide emergency contact info, ensure legal compliance, notify neighbors, and maintain $500,000 liability insurance. Guest background checks are required, but this requirement can be satisfied if an online lodging marketplace is utilized and the marketplace conducts the background checks.
- License with emergency contact info must be displayed in a conspicuous place in the short-term rental that is clearly visible upon entry through the primary entrance.
- License number must be displayed on rental advertisements (including online lodging marketplace listings).
- Non-compliance penalties range from $500 to $3,500, with a possible license suspension for repeated offenses.
