Non-Profit Status and Standing

Applicants must

• Be a 501(c)(3) organization recognized by the IRS

• Be in good standing with

  • The City of Avondale (for example, have a current business license if required)

  • The Arizona Corporation Commission

Annual Timeline

The City accepts sponsorship requests once per year.

• Opening date: Second Monday in January

• Closing date: First Monday in March

Project Requirements

Projects must

• Primarily benefit the Avondale community

• Align with the City of Avondale Strategic Plan

• Not compete with a City application submitted to the same tribal community in the same cycle

• Match the funding priorities of the tribal community, which may include

  • Public Safety

  • Mitigation of Gaming Impacts

  • Commerce and Economic Development

  • Transportation

  • Health Care Services

  • Community or Economic Development

  • Education

  • Environmental Programs

  • Other priorities identified by the tribal community

Note: Priorities vary by tribal community.

Step 1: Submit a Sponsorship Request

• Complete the online request form through the link provided by the City.

• Email your funding request application and cover page to grantsreporting@avondaleaz.gov.

• If the application is not yet available, email a project outline that includes a description and the amount of funding you plan to request.

• The Grants Coordinator reviews and manages all sponsorship requests.

Step 2: If a City Council Resolution Is Required

• Some tribal communities require formal approval by City Council.

• When necessary, the Grants Coordinator will assist your organization with preparing materials for Council consideration.

The City Will

• Support your request for funding

• Accept and pass through funds awarded by the tribal community

The City Will Not

• Submit your application

• Manage your grant funds

• Complete or submit grant reports

All preparation, submission, reporting, and grant management responsibilities remain with the Non-Profit organization.
