Avondale announces Christmas and New Year’s Day Holiday Schedules The following changes in City of Avondale operations will take place in observance of the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. City facilities, which include City Hall, Libraries, City Court, Community Center, Public Safety administration offices, Municipal Operations Service Center, Senior Center and Care1st Avondale Resource Center, will be closed in observance of the upcoming holidays for the following dates: • Tuesday, December 24, 2019 (Christmas Eve)* (exception for Avondale Senior Center.) • Wednesday, December 25, 2019 (Christmas Day) • Wednesday, January 1, 2020 (New Year’s Day) *Avondale’s Senior Center will be open on a modified schedule on Tuesday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 31, open from 8 a.m. to noon. Avondale’s two public libraries will close early on Tuesday, December 31 at 5 p.m. The Care1st Avondale Resource Center will also close early on Tuesday, December 31 at 3 p.m. Trash and recycling will not be collected on the following dates. Collections will instead run one day later. Friday collection will occur on Saturday. • Wednesday, December 25, 2019 (Christmas Day) • Wednesday, January 1, 2020 (New Year’s Day) Transit services for the ZOOM Circulator will be in service on both holiday dates, but will run on a Sunday service schedule, 6 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The City of Avondale wishes its residents and friends a safe holiday season.

Avondale officials broke ground on a $9.5 million expansion project for the Avondale AZ Police Department today. Construction will expand the current police headquarters facility, adding 14,800 square feet of space for a modernized property and evidence room to store over 65,000 items of evidence. Funds will also be used to renovate 7,600 square feet of existing space to include administrative offices and expansion of meeting space. https://www.avondaleaz.gov/Home/Components/News/News/2006/1100
