City Manager's Excellence Awards Program

  The City Manager's Excellence Awards Program provides a means to reward those individuals for high-performing services and achievements based on the following categories, reflecting the Core Purpose and Values of the City:

City Manager Star Performer Award

2025 Recipient: TJ Estavillo, Public Works

The City Manager Star Performer Award is the highest award and will be given to one employee each year that exemplifies all the core values of the City to an extraordinary degree and is an excellent role model to their team, the organization, and the community in “Making Lives Better”.

  

 

Victory Lane Award

2025 Recipients: Tom Street, Parks, Recreation & Libraries and Suzie Hunter, Public Works

 The Victory Lane Award is the second highest of the City Manager’s Employee Excellence Awards, is given each year, if warranted, to only one employee who exemplifies the Core Values of the City and who continually goes above and beyond carrying out the core purpose of the City.

   

 

Guiding Leader

2025 Recipient: Alyssa Williams, Marketing & Public Relations

The Guiding Leader Award will be given to an employee who creates a work environment that is team oriented, fair, and transparent. 

 

 

Frontrunner Award

2025 Recipient: Mariela Gonzalez, Neighborhood & Family Services

The Frontrunner Award will be given to an employee who continually works to resolve issues quickly, streamlines processes, provides excellent customer service and works efficiently and effectively to make Avondale the best it can be.

  

 

 

Special Recognition Award 

2025 Recipient: Joel Evans, Facilities

The Special Recognition Award will be given to an employee who exemplifies the 'Avi' Way through their tireless commitment to making lives better in Avondale, supporting a culture of professionalism and teamwork, and conveying their passion for service delivery day in and day out.

 

Pit Crew Award

2025 Recipient: GIS Team, Information Technology

The Pit Crew Award will be given to a group of individuals excelling in at least one of the Core Values of the City who work as a team to achieve the City’s Core Purpose of “Making Lives Better “

 

Rookie of the Year Award

2025 Recipient: Bernadette Gortarez, Public Works

The Rookie of the Year Award will be given to an individual who has exceeded expectations in going above and beyond to achieve excellence in service delivery and customer satisfaction, all within their first year of employment with the City.

 

Safety Excellence

2025 Recipients: Senior Services Kitchen and Senior Services Drivers, Neighborhood & Family Services

The Safety Excellence Award will be given to a group of individuals who exemplify outstanding dedication to maintaining a safe working environment.
