This year-long program mobilizes residents to serve as Avondale Ambassadors and provides an opportunity to engage with City programs, services, events, and high-priority projects, empowering community members to stay curious and informed. Through information sharing and volunteering, Avondale Ambassadors will create a safe and welcoming environment and shape our vibrant community. Avondale Ambassadors will connect with local leaders, residents, and stakeholders at City-sponsored events, City Council meetings, and other public gatherings. The City of Avondale is excited to offer residents this invaluable learning experience.

Requirements:

• Must be an Avondale resident.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must complete a background check.
• Must be passionate about Avondale and making an impact in the community.
• Must be willing to engage and share information with residents, staff, and visitors.
• Ambassadors serve for a term of one year and must reapply for each term.

Opportunities:

• Host information tables at City-sponsored events.
• Share City program and resource information.
• Be featured in City photos and videos.   
• Engage with City projects on Avondale Connect and share updates with the community.
• Evaluate upcoming projects and offer feedback.

Expectations

• Attend the four Quarterly Avondale Ambassador Sessions.
• Host at least two information tables during City-sponsored events.
• Attend one City board, commission, committee, or Council meeting each month.
• Attend the annual State of the City event. 
• Follow all Avondale social media accounts.
• Wear the AVI pin regularly.
• Wear the Ambassador shirt and jacket at designated City volunteer events.
• Track attendance at events and city council meetings.
• Communicate with Avondale Ambassador staff.
• Support and promote all City initiatives and academies.
• Embody Avondale’s core purpose and values of making lives better through helpful, kind, and professional actions in the community.
• Through information sharing, create a positive and welcoming environment.
