Public Hearing on Proposed Development Impact Fees

Post Date: 11/14/2018 - In accordance with Arizona Revised Statute 9-463.05, the City of Avondale is holding a public hearing to accept comments on the proposed development impact fees. The public hearing will be held at Avondale City Hall at the City Council meeting scheduled:  Monday, January 14, 2019,  City Hall Council Chambers, 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, Avondale, Arizona 85323 at 7:00 pm.  City Council reviewed the Land Use Assumptions and Infrastructure Improvement Plan on Monday, October 15, 2018.

In March of 2007, Avondale officially became one of 8,000 passport acceptance facilities throughout the United States A valid U.S. passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. All U.S. citizens are required to have a passport book or passport card when traveling abroad.

To apply for a NEW PASSPORT, you will need:

  • A certified copy of your birth certificate, original certificate of naturalization or certificate of birth abroad along with a copy of this document (a self-serve copy machine is available at our facility; copies are 25 cents).
    • Hospital record of birth is not accepted
    • The long form of birth certificate is required.  Applicants who were born in states that issue short forms or abstract versions will need to obtain the long form
    • Original documents will be submitted with the application, but will be returned by the US Department of State

  • Valid government issued picture ID
  • A copy (front and back) of your valid picture ID (a self-serve copy machine is available at our facility; copies are 25 cents).    
  • Two passport photos - this service is available for $15.00
  • Fees are set by the US Department of State and are posted on their website.   A brief summary of fees is listed in the table below for services provided by the City of Avondale.  Payment must be made by check or money order only.

  • Both parents/guardians (as listed on the birth certificate) must appear with the child for whom the passport application is for.  Please click here for more information regarding applying for a passport for a minor
  • Both parents/guardians must provide a valid government issued identification

Regular processing for passport applications takes approximately six (6) weeks. Expedited processing is available; however, additional processing and mailing fees will apply.


Passport renewals are processed by mail only and should be submitted to the US Department of State directly by the applicant.  Click here for more information regarding renewal of a passport.

Note that many countries require your passport to have at least six months validity remaining prior to allowing entry into that country.  Watch this video highlighting the importance of knowing your passport's expiration date as you are planning your trip abroad.
