About the Board
The Parks & Recreation Board was established in 1986 to advise the City Council on items such as the planning of future parks, the modification of existing parks. They play a key role in the planning of current and future recreation activities and provided input in the preparation of the Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan. Members are appointed by the Avondale City Council to serve three-year terms. The Avondale City Council adopted Resolution 3166-214 on February 18, 2014 which merged the Parks and Recreation and the Library Advisory Boards. Membership in the new board was set at seven members and one alternate. This membership number will be reached through attrition. This board meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Mojave Room of the Avondale City Hall.
