The City Attorney serves as legal counsel to the City Council, City Manager, all City Departments and all Boards and Commissions. The Office of the City Attorney is responsible for drafting and reviewing City contracts, ordinances and other legal instruments for approval as to form and correctness. The Office provides legal representation on behalf of the City in matters before judicial and administrative agencies. The Office of the City Attorney provides objective legal advice and does not make policy decisions. The City Attorney and staff cannot provide legal advice to citizens. The City Attorney's Office consists of two departments: Civil and Criminal.
