Avondale Expands Urban Canopy with Community Tree Planting
On Saturday, March 28, the City of Avondale successfully hosted a tree planting event at Mountain View Park with the help of local families.
A total of 6 volunteers took part in planting 13 new trees at Mountain View Park, adding shade along the walking path and enhancing the park’s natural environment.
The tree planting is part of a larger grant-funded initiative aimed at expanding Avondale’s urban shade canopy. In total, 153 trees will be planted across parks, plazas, and roadside right-of-way throughout the city. This project is funded by the USDA Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry Program, in partnership with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. These institutions are equal opportunity providers.
