 **COVID-19 Response**   The following official announcements have been made by the city in regards to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus)   In an effort to minimize the visits to City Hall, please use our online services for paying your water bill  https://ubill.avondale.org/

Avondale is following guidance provided by the state Governor’s Executive Orders: https://azgovernor.gov/executive-orders. Effective Sunday, June 21, 2020 the wearing of face coverings by employees and customers will be required in all city facilities,  retail establishments, convenience stores, grocery stores, pharmacies, gyms, indoor sports or activity facilities, and medical offices. Additionally, these businesses will be required to post notice of these requirements at their entrances. (see more: COVID-19 Response)

Avondale Hires Miranda Gomez as New Assistant Parks and Recreation Director

The City of Avondale is pleased to announce that Miranda Gomez will join the city as its new Assistant Director of the Parks and Recreation Department.  

Miranda Gomez is a West Valley native with more than 20 years of Parks and Recreation experience.  Miranda spent the last 15 years with the City of Buckeye’s Community Services Department serving in a variety of positions, most recently as the Assistant Director.  In her time with Buckeye, Miranda was responsible for managing parks and recreation programs, events and facilities including the Buckeye Marathon, the Buckeye Air Fair, recreational sports and classes, the Buckeye Aquatic Center and Recreation Center.  

She will support in management operations of Avondale’s Parks and Recreation department events, activities and programs, including helping to oversee 255 acres of developed parks in the city.  She starts her new role with City of Avondale on June 15.

Her credentials include Certified Park and Recreation Executive through the National Recreation and Parks Association.  Miranda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Business Management from Grand Canyon University. She is an active leader for Arizona Parks & Recreation Association (APRA), serving as Awards Committee Chair.
