Construction begins for North Avondale Water Supply Project

Starting June 1, construction of the North Avondale Water Supply Project will begin in Avondale. This important water supply, conveyance and treatment project has a total construction cost of $7.7 Million. The project will be managed by Carollo Engineers, Inc and will bring additional water supply into the City’s system through an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Phoenix. The proposed completion for this project is December 2020.

The North Avondale Water Supply Project consists of an Interconnect Facility located on the east side of 107th Avenue approximately 1000 ft south of Indian School Road adjacent to the Roosevelt Irrigation District Canal.  The project also includes new 16-inch and 18-inch water mains in 107th Avenue connecting at Indian School Road extending south to the Interconnect Site, south to the City’s Garden Lakes Water Treatment Facility, and also further south with a new 10-inch water main connecting a future SRP well site at Encanto Blvd and 107th Avenue.   Additional improvements within the Garden Lakes Treatment Facility include expansion of the existing treatment processes for the new water supply.

Access to businesses, schools and residential properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.  Travel restrictions on 107th Avenue will be clearly marked through the duration of the project, and traffic in both the north and southbound lanes will be maintained. It is anticipated that construction will begin at the intersection of 107th Avenue and Encanto Blvd and proceed north.

The public is requested to use caution and follow traffic control when traveling near the construction area. The public is strongly encouraged to choose alternate routes if possible, to avoid potential delays and inconvenience. As always, your patience in dealing with these traffic impacts is appreciated.
