Avondale to Honor Graduating Class of 2020

Do you have a graduating senior you’d like to celebrate? The City of Avondale is inviting you to take part in its Faces of Avondale Graduate Recognition, as a way to highlight the achievements and success of the Graduating Class of 2020.

As the graduating classes of 2020 – from high school to college – find themselves unable to take part in time honored traditions and ceremonies surrounding the major milestone of graduation, the City of Avondale would like to take the opportunity to recognize the young men and women for their achievements. The City of Avondale will launch a special virtual program to honor them on the city’s website, social media platforms as well as Avondale 11, the city’s channel on Cox.

"The Class of 2020 will forever share a special bond, and we hope they will remember that the community and the city of Avondale came together to recognize and honor them in a unique way," said Avondale Mayor Kenn Wiese. "In most cases, this year’s graduates will miss, or at the very least, have to wait on commencement and other ceremonies. We want to offer them another way to be recognized as they continue their life’s journey.”

Parents, teachers and the graduates themselves are encouraged to post their graduation photos on Instagram, using the hashtag #FacesofAvondale2020Grads. This special hashtag will allow the photos to feed into a platform on the City’s website, and will be widely shared.

The Faces of Avondale 2020 Grad Recognition Program launches this week on the cities website, www.avondaleaz.gov/grads  and on social platforms. Please remember to use the hashtag #FacesofAvondale2020Grads, and make sure privacy settings are set to public for these photos to be captured.

A montage of photos submitted will be shared on Avondale social media platforms, and on Channel 11 and will be featured all summer long.

Additional information about the Faces of Avondale 2020 Grad recognition is online at www.avondaleaz.gov/grads or email emailpublicinformation@avondaleaz.gov.
