Avondale Takes Steps to Comply with Governor’s Executive Order

In response to Governor Doug Ducey’s March 30 “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” Executive Order, the City of Avondale announced that effective Tuesday, March 31, access to the City Hall building and other facilities will be further restricted to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus to employees and the public.

“It is our responsibility to prioritize the health of Avondale’s residents and employees to help flatten the curve and contain the spread of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus,” said Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise.

City Hall, located at 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, will be closed to the public. The City is directing the public to find the services they need online by visiting www.avondaleaz.gov. Those unable to pay their water bill or make other payments online or over the phone, may go to the lobby of the Avondale Police Department, located at 11485 W. Civic Center Drive, to make payments.

Avondale Public Libraries will remain closed; the library will also suspend its curbside borrowing service.

In an effort to help limit opportunities to gather, Avondale will be closing the following amenities at all public parks beginning at 6 AM this Wednesday, April 1st:

  • Playgrounds
  • Festival Fields Skate Park
  • Dog parks
  • Baseball/softball fields
  • Basketball courts
  • Volleyball courts
  • Pickleball courts
  • Tennis courts
  • Drinking fountains
  • Events and group activities will continue to be restricted at park ramadas

Avondale Police and Park Rangers will be enforcing these restrictions.  All open spaces, trails, walking paths and restrooms will be open for public use from 6 AM to 7 PM. Please note the reduced operating hours.  Social and physical distancing guidelines recommended by the CDC still apply in these areas.

Essential services will not be impacted by the Governor’s Executive Order.  Avondale residents should not experience changes to regular services such as sanitation, recycling, streets, and code compliance.
