 **COVID-19 Response**   The following official announcements have been made by the city in regards to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus)   In an effort to minimize the visits to City Hall, please use our online services for paying your water bill

Avondale is following guidance provided by the state Governor’s Executive Orders: Effective Sunday, June 21, 2020 the wearing of face coverings by employees and customers will be required in all city facilities,  retail establishments, convenience stores, grocery stores, pharmacies, gyms, indoor sports or activity facilities, and medical offices. Additionally, these businesses will be required to post notice of these requirements at their entrances. (see more: COVID-19 Response)

Avondale Public Library Launches Curbside Service

During Avondale’s Public Library closures, curbside pickup of library materials will be offered at Avondale Civic Center Library, located at 11350 W. Civic Center Dr. and Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library, located at 495 E. Western Ave. beginning Wednesday, March 25.  

Library patrons will have the following options to request items:

1)Placing items on hold through the online catalog (

2)Emailing request at

3)Calling the libraries to place requests with a staff member; Avondale Civic Center Library 623.333.2602, Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library 623.333.2601


This service will be available at both libraries during the following time:

•10am to 12pm and 4pm to 6pm - Monday through Thursday

•3pm to 5pm - Friday

A library card number and PIN number will be needed to place a library material request.

To obtain or renew a library card:

Requests will be limited to 10 items at a time and will apply to books (including New and Bestsellers), DVDs, CDS, and audiobooks.  Beyond Books kits will not be available for checkout during this time.

Requests will be filled by staff in the order they are received. Patrons will be contacted by email or phone when their library material request is ready; provided the next available date and time to pick up, and confirm library location.  Those unable to pick-up during the allotted date and time can request a different date and time for pick up. 

When arriving at the designated library for pick up, please go to the front door entrance where library staff will be stationed to hand over library items. A library card and valid identification will be required at time of pick up.

As a reminder, in accordance with CDC and Public Health guidelines, the public is advised not to visit the library curbside program if they are experiencing any signs or symptoms of illness including but not limited to; shortness of breath, fever, sore throat or cough.  Please stay home and minimize exposure to others. 

Due dates have been suspended and fines will not accrue while libraries are closed.  Items can be returned through the outdoor book drops located at both libraries, which are available 24 hours a day.
