Avondale Senior Center temporarily suspends activities

Effective Monday, March 16, the Avondale Neighborhood & Family Services Department will temporarily suspend transportation, programming and activities at the Avondale Senior Center until further notice.

Said Chris Lopez, Avondale Neighborhood & Family Services Director: “The elderly population and those with serious underlying health conditions are most at risk from Covid-19. Our goal is to do what we can to mitigate the risk of our participants contracting the virus.  We are hopeful that this is just a temporary situation and that we can welcome our senior participants back at the center soon.”

Home Delivered Meal Program will continue. Participants who rely on the congregate meal program (lunch at the senior center), can pick up a nutritious Brown Bag meal from 11:30am to 12:30 pm on weekdays from the Senior Center, located at 1007 S. Third Street.

If participants who normally receive transportation services from the Senior Center are unable to pick up the Brown Bag meal, accommodations will be made to deliver meals. Weekly Mobile Food Pantry will remain in effect.
For questions or additional information regarding the Avondale Senior Center, please call 623.333.2705.
