City of Avondale hires new Business Development Manager

The City of Avondale has hired Wendy Bridges as its new Business Development Manager for the city Economic Development Department. She joins the city on March 23.

Said Ken Chapa, Avondale’s Economic Development Director: “We’re excited to have Wendy join the Econ Dev team in Avondale. The city is on the cutting edge when it comes attracting new business, manufacturing and health tech, and Wendy’s background and experience will continue to move us forward during this time of tremendous growth and new development.”  

With over 20 years of experience in government, Wendy Bridges has held positions with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, City of Tempe, Yavapai County and City of Prescott.  She earned an Arizona Economic Development Professional designation from Arizona Association for Economic Development, and is a candidate for Certified Economic Developer from the International Economic Development Council.  Bridges was named 2018 Economic Developer of the Year by Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED), and has earned Golden Prospector awards for Marketing, Website and Deal of the Year.

Bridges is an active member of key industry associations, such as International Development Council and International Council of Shopping Centers, while also serving in leadership roles with other organizations.  Currently, she is incoming Vice-President for AAED, and serves on the Finance Committee, Governmental Affairs and Northern committees within this organization.  Past leadership roles included serving on the Economic Development Council for Northern Arizona Council of Governments and Yavapai County Workforce Development Board, two terms as chair of AAED Northern Committee, chair of the AAED Finance Committee, chair of the Northern Arizona Council of Governments Tourism Committee, Prescott Area Leadership Board of Directors, and founding Board member for Prescott Area Young Professionals. 

She holds a degree in Management from Yavapai College, has completed the Economic Development program at University of Arizona, and has a B.A. in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University.
