Plogging craze steps up in Avondale


Plogging, a fitness craze originating in Sweden, where one walks/jogs while picking up litter, has taken shape in Avondale!  The City of Avondale has developed a new fun, fitness and environmentally savvy craze to encourage residents to get fit while improving the environment, and making friends.

Plogging can happen anywhere, but the city has some monthly scheduled gatherings for those interested in joining the fitness craze at various dates, times and locations.   Giveaways, prizes, healthy incentives and more are offered at these upcoming Avondale Plogs gathering events in Avondale. 

  • Turkey Trot Plog - Tuesday, November 26; 9 – 11 a.m.  Civic Center Library 11350 W. Civic Center Drive
  • Resolve to Plog -  Thursday, January 16; 9 – 10 a.m. First Southern Baptist Church 1001 N. Central Avenue
  • Loving Small Business - Thursday, February 13; 8 – 9 a.m. Sernas Plaza 521 E Western Avenue.
  • Sole Mates/Multigen Plogging -  Thursday, March 12; 10 – 11 a.m. Mountain View Park 201 E. Mountain View Drive
  • KidFest - Saturday, April 11; 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friendship Park 12325 W McDowell Road
  • Soy Plogguero Cinco de Mayo - Tuesday, May 5; 9 – 10 a.m. Festival Fields 101 E Lower Buckeye Road
