Jeffrey S. Case named new Avondale Fire Chief

The City of Avondale today announced it has hired Jeffrey S. Case as the new Chief of Avondale Fire & Medical. Case, a Deputy Chief with the Phoenix Fire Department, brings 34 years of public safety service experience to his new role. He starts the job on Sept. 2, 2019.

“Avondale is fortunate to have a leader with an impressive career such as Jeffrey Case join the Avondale fire department. He has worked his way up the ladder from firefighter and paramedic, to Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, Division Chief to Deputy Chief, serving in that capacity for the last 15 years for the fifth largest city in the United States,” said Avondale City Manager Charles Montoya. “With the anticipated growth in our city, Chief Case is the right leader to guide the department, itself a leader in excellence among fire services in the West Valley, while serving to make lives better for all the residents of Avondale.”

Chief Case brings extensive experience managing both strategic and tactical programs, with expertise in Emergency Medical Services administration, dispatch and deployment processes, including management of the multi-agency automatic aid response system, department-wide training, resource management, as well as policy management. His most recent assignment with Phoenix Fire Department was as Deputy Chief of the Emergency Medical Services Division. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Chief of the Phoenix Regional Dispatch System. He also served as Deputy Chief of the Technical Services Division.

Chief Case will oversee the operations for Avondale Fire & Medical, which encompasses 75 individuals in four divisions. The City currently has four fire stations throughout the community.

“I am excited to join the team of professionals at Avondale Fire & Medical. My goal is to ensure a collaborative environment working with city leadership management to advance the mission and values of Avondale Fire & Medical and that of the City of Avondale,” Chief Case said.

Jeffrey Case holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Service Management from Ottawa University, and a Masters of Education (M. Ed. Cum Laude) from Northern Arizona University. He is a graduate of Valley Leadership, Class 29 and Arizona State University’s Advanced Public Executive Program. He holds numerous fire and public safety certifications, and is a member of the Arizona Fire Chief’s Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs and International Association of Firefighters.
