Come Play at Avondale KidFest, April 6

Come out to Avondale’s KidFest celebration on Saturday, April 6 at Friendship Park. Avondale KidFest is a free event that showcases community groups dedicated to families and children while celebrating the value and importance of families as a key part of a healthy and safe community. Avondale invites the community to participate in this fun, outdoor, family-friendly event filled with activities and entertainment geared toward the young child. All ages are welcome.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Friendship Park 12325 W. McDowell Road, Avondale, AZ 85323.

The three-hour Avondale KidFest celebration will include games and fun, special character guests, entertainment, water fun activities, informational booths on education, literacy, healthy lifestyles, safety, summer camp & youth program information and more. A highlight to this event is the incorporation of GAIN, as the Police Department will showcase many of the great public safety programs and initiatives, and vehicle displays. Also featured as a part of the festivities is the Splash Pad season opening, so come prepared to get a little wet! Food and drink will be available for purchase so that your family can picnic at the park.

Just before the event, at 9:30 a.m. there will be an egg hunt for ages 12 and under! A special bunny guest, will kick off a scramble for kids to hunt for eggs. The Egg Hunt will take place on the baseball fields.

Other features at the event include:

• Police and Fire Trucks and other City vehicles on display
• Read On Avondale
• Lots of Giveaways
• Free Activities
• Trackless Train
• On-stage features to local entertainment such as Take Five Dance, Studance LAB, Beyond Gymnastics and Littleton Middle School Band
• Story Time read by special storybook character guests

Free shuttle transportation will be available to and from the park location and the following local schools and housing developments; Lattie Coor Elementary School (1406 N Central Ave, Avondale, AZ 85323), Littleton Elementary (1252 S Avondale Blvd, Avondale, AZ 85323) and Michael Anderson Elementary School (45 S 3rd Ave, Avondale, AZ 85323), Rose Terrace (525 E Harrison Dr, Avondale, AZ 85323) and Madison Heights (1110 N Dysart Rd, Avondale, AZ 85323).
