Avondale Teen Employee Mentorship Program starts recruitment for Summer

Avondale’s summer teen employment program has a new name and a new look.  Formally known as “Next STEP,” the program is now called “Avi TEMP,” which stands for Teen Employment Mentorship Program.  This popular program has provided employment opportunities to nearly 230 teens since it began in 2007.

The program model will remain the same, offering quality temporary summertime employment opportunities with 7 weeks of paid, part time work within local city government, as well as with several community partners such as local private businesses and nonprofits agencies.

“Avi TEMP participants gain employment experience, and have the chance to learn from working professionals on how to actively pursue their own career paths. Some of them even find employment shortly after the program ends because of the large network prospect this program provides,” said Lauren Twigg, administrator for Youth Service Programs in Avondale.

Applications, program specifics and requirements can be found online at https://www.avondaleaz.gov/government/departments/neighborhood-family-services/youth-services-community-engagement/youth-programs-services . Applications will be accepted April 1 through April 11, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  Applications can only be accepted in-person, first come, first serve, at our Avondale Community Center located at 1007 S. 3rd St., Avondale, AZ 85323.  The program will officially run from June 10 to July 26, 2019.
