Civic Center Dr. to consider a request to raise its primary property taxes, consider a resolution adopting the city’s budget, and consider a request to approve the 2019-2020 fee schedule. Entries Sought for Avondale Art Scholarship Contest

The Avondale Municipal Art Committee (AMAC) is inviting budding artists to take part in the Achieving Artists - Mayor Marie Lopez Rogers Scholarship Art Contest, open to all high school age graduating seniors in Avondale who are planning on enrolling into college.

Artwork in the media of paintings, drawings, mix media, photography and sculptures will be accepted.  Scholarship prizes ranging from $1,000 - $2,000 will be awarded to help further college education. Deadline to submit is April 3, 2019. Entries need to have a copy of the online registration form attached to the piece and must be submitted to the reception desk of Avondale City Hall, 11465 West Civic Center Dr., Avondale, AZ 85323.

Achieving Artists - Mayor Marie Lopez Rogers Scholarship Art Contest is a great opportunity for the City and the Avondale Municipal Art Committee to support and encourage talented youth in their creative and artistic endeavors,” said Councilmember Bryan Kilgore, who led the development of the program when he served as chair of the AMAC prior to becoming a councilmember.  

Submitted artworks will be showcased at a special art show on April 18, 2019. Artwork will be on display at the Estrella Mountain Community Performance Arts Center from April 15-29, 2019.
