Portillo’s details plans for West Valley restaurant

Portillos 2

Portillo’s Restaurant Group, a favorite among Midwest transplants, is set to open a new location this year in Avondale.

The Chicago-based hot dog chain, which first expanded to Arizona in 2013, will be opening in the Park 10 development on the northeast corner of Interstate 10 and 107th Avenue in the West Valley. Park 10 is a 43-acre mixed-use development for retail, office and medical. A number of restaurants operate in the development, as well as a Main Event bowling and entertainment center.

This will be the third Portillo's location in the Valley and the 61st across the country.

The new location will be housed in a 9,000-square-foot building that will include seating for more than 200 customers, an outdoor patio and a double-lane drive-thru.

“Since our first location in Arizona that opened in 2013, Portillo’s has continued to build a strong and loyal fan base across the Phoenix-area,” Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo said in a statement. “Our team is excited to expand to the modern city of Avondale and make a home in their vibrant retail scene.”

During the summer, the Phoenix Business Journal reported Portillo's was hiring a manager for the soon-to-come restaurant in Avondale.

The company did not give a specific date of when the West Valley location will open, but said it was “coming in 2019.”
