Avondale to host Open House Meetings for Input on Historic Avondale Specific Plan

The City of Avondale is seeking to gather input, ideas, and vision from local residents and businesses for future opportunities in Avondale’s three historic areas: Historic Avondale/Old Town, Cashion, and Las Ligas/Rio Vista.

Two Neighborhood Meetings are scheduled for public input.  The meeting dates are Wednesday, March 11; 5-7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 14; 3 – 5:30 p.m. at Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library (495 E. Western Ave., Avondale, AZ 85323).

Avondale is creating a Historic Avondale Specific Plan focusing on economic development steps, land use and zoning, marketing and branding, and revitalization. To attract new businesses and residential development, maintain historic character, and revitalize areas, a Plan is necessary and it is important that the community voice is part of this process.

“Avondale’s greatest concentration of older commercial buildings and residential homes falls within three historic areas. These well-established areas have opportunities for neighborhood identification, new development of commercial, employment, and residential, as well as improvements for outdoor spaces and lighting,” said Aaron White, Avondale Economic Development Specialist.

For more information, please contact Aaron White with the City’s Economic Development Department at (623) 333-1414 or awhite@avondaleaz.gov. Information about this Plan will also be available on the City’s website at avondaleaz.gov/historicavondaleplan.
