Avondale to offer free CPR & Drowning Prevention Awareness Course during Drowning Impact Awareness Month
Avondale Fire & Medical Department, in partnership with the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona (DPCA) and SRP, will recognize Drowning Impact Awareness Month in August.
Avondale Fire and Medical will host a free CPR & Drowning Prevention Awareness Course at Fire Station 172 (1825 N. 107th Ave, Avondale) on Saturday August 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. The course will cover CPR for adults, kids and infants.
Several Valley fire departments, in partnership with SRP and DPCA, are offering free CPR classes to the public during the month. Visit www.preventdrownings.org and click “Learn CPR” under the Prevention tab for a list of all available classes. Some are certification; others are awareness classes.
The Mayor will also issue proclamation, which will officially designate August as Drowning Impact Awareness Month in Avondale.
Layers of drowning protection include adult supervision, barriers to prevent access to water, Coast-Guard approved life vests, classes in swimming and CPR. The Avondale Fire & Medical Department is available throughout the year to give water safety presentations and to provide drowning prevention and water safety resources such as CPR classes.
