Avondale’s Winterfest Celebration will feature Gingerbread House Contest

Avondale Civic Center turns into a Winterfest on Saturday, December 2, with snow, rides and holiday-themed activities, food and sweet treats, a tree lighting ceremony and holiday entertainment and more.

To add to the festivities, the community is invited to create gingerbread houses that will be included in an ‘Edible Avondale’ Gingerbread House display at City Hall. The display will stay up throughout the holiday season.

Three lucky entry winners will win $100 Visa gift cards to use for holiday shopping. Winners will be judged in three categories: People’s Choice Award (winner of the most votes collected during Winterfest); Celebrity Judge Award (winner will be announced at Winterfest); and #EdibleAvondale Winner (social media votes collected online from Dec. 2 through Dec.20;  winner will be announced on Dec. 21).

All ages and groups are invited to participate.  Structures must be at least 75% edible.  Pre-registration is required by November 20, by filling out a form on line or available at city facilities. Structures must be delivered to City Hall by 4 p.m. Thursday, November 28.  Complete entry details and qualifications below:
