The High School Art Contest originated in 2011, each spring Avondale Municipal Art Committee holds the Mayor Marie High School Art Contest to provide an opportunity for AMAC to encourage & recognize the artistic talents of Avondale’s graduating high school seniors.

 Avondale’s High School Art Contest is open to all graduating seniors from Avondale High Schools. The artwork of the overall winner of this competition will be displayed in the Avondale Civic Center Library.  The exhibit in Avondale will show case various mediums in the categories of two and three dimensional art and photography.  The awards will be applied towards the college of the recipients’ choice, in the event no school is chosen the award will be forfeited or awarded runner-up. The contest is sponsored by the Avondale Municipal Art Committee, and partnerships with other art and educational organizations.

Teens sought to participate in “Mayor Marie High School Art Contest” 

The City of Avondale Municipal Art Committee is seeking participants in the ‘Mayor Marie High School Art Contest’, open to all high school age graduating seniors in Avondale who are planning on enrolling into college. 


Artwork in the media of paintings, drawings, mix media, photography and sculptures will be accepted.  Scholarship prizes will be awarded ranging in the amounts of $1,000 - $2,000 to help further their college education.  Deadline to submit is March 28, 2017 entries can be submitted to the reception desk of the Avondale Civic Center Library, 11350 West Civic Center Drive, Avondale, AZ 85323.

“This is a great opportunity for the Avondale Municipal Art Committee to support and encourage talented youth in their creative and artistic endeavors,” said Councilmember Bryan Kilgore, who led the development of the program when he served as Chair of the Municipal Arts Committee. 

 

Submitted artworks will be showcased at a special art show in spring of 2018.   Winning artwork may be featured on display in the Avondale Civic Center Library. For more information call 623-333-2787 or email us.
