Avondale’s State of the City Event Scheduled for March 22

The City of Avondale will host State of The City 2017: A Vision Takes Shape, on Wednesday, March 22, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  The event will take place at the Estrella Mountain Community College’s Performing Arts Center in Avondale.

In his State of the City Address, Avondale Mayor Kenneth Weise will highlight the many accomplishments and successes of the previous year, including the city’s development and redevelopment successes, and elaborate on what’s ahead for 2017 and 2018.

“Avondale has developed a strategic vision to guide us as we continue to accelerate into the future. Keeping our sights on what’s ahead on the horizon is as important as reflecting on what we’ve achieved,”  Mayor Weise said.

The city will also highlight the contributions and stories that embody Avondale’s brand story of Aspiring, Achieving, and Accelerating, and recognize the many individuals who have contributed to the city’s successful year in 2016, including those who serve on Avondale’s boards, commissions and committees or volunteer in other ways.

Mayor Weise will also congratulate EMCC on its milestone 25th Anniversary. “The city specifically selected EMCC as the venue for this year’s State of the City Event. This is indeed cause for much celebration. We are so proud that this beautiful campus for higher learning is in Avondale. We recognize and appreciate the many valuable partnerships that we have forged with the college over the past two and a half decades, and hope to continue in the future,” Mayor Weise said.

In addition to Mayor Weise’s keynote address, the event will include opportunities to network during a reception immediately following the address.
