Community Relations & Public Affairs


Our role with the City

The Community Relations & Public Affairs Department encompasses public information and media relations; intergovernmental affairs, Council relations, community relations and citizen outreach, marketing and graphic design, website, social media and cable access channel oversight, as well as transit operations, and grants administration.

The department also provides professional assistance to the City Council, City Manager, and senior management staff on matters related to the dissemination of public information and the activities at the regional, state and federal levels of government.  The Department represents and guides Avondale’s interest on all legislative maters.

The Department serves as a central source of information about the City as an official channel of communication between the City and the public; assisting departments in developing educational and marketing materials and public outreach campaigns. It also develops and shapes a comprehensive image of the City brand through the media and special community events and activities.

The Transit Operations division is responsible for all intergovernmental agreements, grants and contracts for transit and para transit services.  The Grants administration is responsible for managing grant activity for all City departments.
