About the Council

The Avondale Citizens Corps Council was established by the City Council to ensure that all citizens in Avondale have the opportunity to participate in making our community safer, stronger and better prepared to prevent and manage threats of terrorism, crime and disasters of all kinds.  .

The ACCC shall fulfil its purpose by providing assistance, guidance, and support to local programs including:

  • The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program
  •  The Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Program
  •  The USA on Watch (USAonWatch) Program
  •  The Fire Corps
  •  The Medical Reserve Corps

The ACCC shall serve the above programs only in an advisory (coordinating) and support capacity as requested.    The ACCC shall have three core objectives: education, communication and financial viability/sustainability.

Membership: 7 members (minimum) and two alternates. Two resident members and at least five members representing various organizations.
Term: 3 years
Meetings: Meetings shall be held a minimum of two times per year, unless posted differently at least 24 hours in advance.
