SRP Shade Tree Workshop

SRP Shade Tree Workshop offered in Avondale

SRP along with the Valley Permaculture Alliance is conducting a workshop in Avondale, educating customers about proper tree placement, planting techniques and care. Avondale will be hosting a workshop October 14,2017 at the Avondale City Hall.

Shading your home helps reduce cooling costs, improve air quality and lower the Valley's heat effect—without using a lot of water. After attending a workshop, customers will qualify for up to two free desert-adapted trees (approximately 4-to-6 foot saplings) to plant in energy-saving locations around the home.

Please note there are two Workshop times available for this event:

8 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.

10 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.

Interested SRP customers can visit for more information and to pre-register.  The program is free to SRP customers, however pre-registration online is required.  City Hall is located at 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, Avondale, AZ 85323.

Avondale is committed to programs that help them conserve energy and save money. The Shade Tree workshop is a program approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission to help meet the energy efficiency standard of reducing energy usage.  In addition, Avondale is a nationally recognized Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, USDA Forest Service, and the National Association of State Foresters. The designation provides, among other things, national recognition for greener communities, and programs offered to the community such as Shade Tree programs, support those efforts.  For more information about sustainability practices and initiatives in Avondale visit
